Westby Area Middle School has a connection with Scenic Bluffs Communty Health Centers in Cashon, WI. This partnership allows WAMS students to see mental health counselors who are able to provide ongoing therapy and mental or emotional supports. Individuals have various reasons for seeing a mental health counselor and every single one is valid. Students could be struggling with handling increasing academic stress, navigating peer relationships, handling grief or large life transitions, and much more. If you think having that extra support would help your student, I have the steps explained below.
A link to the Scenic Bluffs referral form can be found here. Once this referral form is completed, it should be scanned or emailed to Amy Schanhofer, the Scenic Bluffs School Program Coordinator. If you do not have a way to print or send the referral please don't worry , the school is willing and able to provide a hard copy and can scan it from our office to Amy. Amy will use this information and permission from a legal guardian to contact the family. Scenic Bluffs will reach out to the family based on the contact information provided. The goal is to set up the initial meeting with the family in Cashton at Scenic Bluffs to record health care and insurance information. After that first meeting which completes all necessary paperwork, a counselor will set up times to come to the school and meet with the student here at WAMS.
